Tips For Selecting The Best Anti-Wrinkle Cream

Anti-wrinkle creams have been a seriously well liked way for folk to restore their fresh looking appearance for a long time now. Unfortunately, with the several of different wrinkle creams on the market today, it can frequently be quite complicated for people to determine which creams will offer the most impressive results. To help make this difficult process a little simpler, I would like to offer you two important tips for selecting the best anti-aging creams.

1.Know your skin type

Even the very best anti wrinkle creams aren't about to do you any good if you happen to have a poor reaction to the cream. This is the reason why it's critical to take the time to identify your skin type prior to investing in any skin care products, including anti-wrinkle creams.

This will encourage you to only choose products which work with your body's own natural chemistry rather than trying to rewrite this chemistry at the risk of serious adverse reactions.

2. Avoid chemical products

Your body makes everything you need so you can enjoy youthful good skin. However, over the passage of time our bodies will inescapably begin to provide lesser and lesser of these necessary compounds. However , this does not mean that the body requires chemical products to resurrect our ageless beauty. In fact , it is quite the reverse. You should rather decide on wrinkle creams which has natural ingredients. An impressive and worthy ant-wrinkle cream has the capability to substitute the compounds like peptides and collagen and elastin as these proteins are naturally found in our skin.

Take these 2 vital pointers to heart and you'll never go wrong in your quest for a younger looking skin. Go to Erase Cosmetics to know more tricks and tips for selecting the anti-wrinkle cream that best suits you.

Andrea Hamilton is a dedicated beauty and health writer. The spine all the way to the neck is truly a special design masterpiece which makes it one of the most complex parts of the human body.

So what really causes neck stiffness? In this article, we will look at the different reasons behind the occurrence of neck pain and neck stiffness.

The spine may seem to be a vulnerable piece of design work but in actuality, it is tougher that it looks. Look at a baby's neck. It’s quite flexible - thus a good manifestation of how strong the neck is.

It’s really amazing how the spinal cord can tolerate injury. But even with the spinal cord’s strength, it is still susceptible to damages and thus leads to neck pain.

The head is as heavy as a bowling ball. Imagine a bowling ball balancing on two small knuckle joints – this is how the head is balanced.

The common causes of neck stiffness

While neck pain or stiffness can be caused by a lot of factors, most cases of neck pain lasts only for a while, eventually it will disappear. However, in certain circumstances, it can be a part of a medical condition such as Osteoarthritis and Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR). Stress or minor twisting injuries can also result to neck stiffness or pain.

Non-specific neck pain are also connected with spasm in the muscle responsible for supporting the neck.

The Best Time to see a physiotherapist

If you think the pain is only caused by stress, then you have nothing to worry about. However, if the pain isn’t improving after a week or two, then it’s about time you head to your physician. If the pain is no longer tolerable, better see a doctor or a physiotherapist immediately.

If you feel a very bad pain developing in your shoulders, in your hips or even thighs, take action as soon as possible. These symptoms can be a sign of PMR. If you have this, prompt treatment is required so as not to aggravate the medical condition.

Neck Pain medication

Neck pain is easily treated even without taking medications. Simply gently massage the neck muscle to get a relief from the tension build-up around it. Massaging often helps but if the pain persists, you can take some pain-killers. Remember that pain-killers such as paracetamol should only be taken every 4 hours.

Poor standing posture can also case neck pain. To prevent neck pain, you should practice standing up properly. Also, don’t settle for a desk that’s too low, it’ll just keep your head from bending forward for a long period of time – which would eventually result to neck stiffness.

A bit of exercise will help a lot. It would also help if you rest for a few days if the pain on your neck doesn’t go away even with medications. You need to rest those neck muscles and in a matter of time, you’ll be back to your regular habits again.

Factors To Consider Before Undergoing A Hip Replacement Surgery

Medical experts say, referring to various clinical studies, that undergoing hip replacement surgeries have provided numerous patients the opportunity to enjoy life once more after years of pain, discomfort, and other problems normally associated with hip disorders. However, not just anyone can avail of a hip replacement surgery even if this has been shown to significantly improve the quality of life of a hip recipient. There are conditions that must be present before a doctor may approve to this life-changing surgical procedure.

Numerous factors must first be considered before this option may be availed. A few examples of these are the patient’s age, present health conditions, commitment of the patient, and the support of the family.

Even if these factors are present, the surgeon would still have to assess the patient’s circumstance before agreeing to such an important course of action. In most cases, the following conditions must exist before a hip replacement surgery may be performed:

Intense Pain and Stiffness

This is the type of pain and stiffness that cannot be relieved by ordinary medications or therapies. A patient with this type of constant pain may have a difficult time performing basic daily routines such as walking, eating, sitting, and even changing of clothes.

Failure of Treatment

Aside from narcotics, all other forms of applicable remedies have been tried and still no improvement has been noticed. The patient may have tried medications, devices, behavioral changes, and injections without any effect even after giving sufficient time for each type of treatment.

Damage to Bones

In instances that damage to the bones has become extensive that failure to address it would only worsen the condition, a hip surgery may be called for. This type of damage may be adequately assessed by the doctor with the use modern imaging equipment.

Disfigurement or Deformity

Also taken into consideration is the extent of the deformity that may have resulted from the chronic hip disorder. The appearance of bowed legs and disfigurement of the overall posture are indications of this.

Possible Risks

Healthcare providers have acknowledged that in any type of surgical procedures, risks will always be there and hip surgeries are no exemptions. Complications from hip replacement surgeries have traditionally accounted for only five to ten percent. With the introduction of the metal-on-metal hip implants, which became popular with many surgeons, this figure has significantly increased.

Failure rates for these metal implants have been very high that hip recipients who have been seriously injured have filed hip implant lawsuits against manufacturers such as Biomet. Legal experts have observed that litigation of these hip implant lawsuits has been moving quite well, including that of Biomet’s multidistrict litigation (MDL). In preparation for the eventual trials of pending hip implant lawsuits, new members were appointed to a very vital Biomet MDL committee, as announced by the court.

References:

orthoinfo.aaos.org

arthritistoday.org

arthritisresearchuk.org

Romanian Cuisine: Delicacies With Cabbages And Cheese

Romanians as a people love to eat all kinds of appetizing food. Romanian cuisine is therefore full of mouth watering recipes. You can take your pick from preparations of the everyday sort as well as delicacies, which are cooked only on special occasions. Just take a look at two preparations: traditional cheese balls and cabbage rolls.

As a matter of fact, Romanians hate delays in cooking something nice once they made up their mind about it. So let us start right away with the cheese ball, which you can find in any good list of Romanian recipes. The cooking time for this preparation is about an hour.

To cook cheese balls you have to prepare a corn flour sauce and a filling. For the sauce you need 350 grams of corn flour, about a half teaspoon of salt and one and a half litre of water. For the filling you require 4 eggs, 50 grams of butter and two types of cheese totalling 300 grams. The kinds of cheese best suited for this preparation are bellows cheese ("branza de burduf") and "telemea", a salt flavored cheese.

To start with, boil the eggs and cook a light corn flour sauce. For the authentic touch, an earthen pot is indispensable for cooking the cheese balls. It imparts the genuine Romanian flavor to the preparation. For the best results, you will need to soak the pot in cold water for 15 minutes and then rub the inside with enough butter so that the cheese balls do not stick to it.

When the corn flour sauce has been cooked, pour one third portion into the earthen pot. Next, cut the bellows cheese into small pieces with a fork and divide the boiled eggs into two. Then put in the bellows cheese and two halved eggs along with a teaspoon of butter. Follow it up with another third of the sauce, two halved eggs and the salty cheese. Top up with the sauce left and you have your cheese balls ready.

The next recipe we are going to share with you is the cabbage roll, and it is as important member of traditional Romanian cuisine as the cheese ball. It could take you half an hour to prepare the ingredients, and thrice that time to cook in an oven.

Basic ingredients of the cabbage roll are one kilo mincemeat, two onions (not too big), some verdure, 200 grams of rice, two spoons of tomato paste, one teaspoon salt, a dash of pepper, two laurel leaves, and a hot pepper. Also required is a regular sized sauerkraut, but only after you immerse it in water for a minimum of two hours to remove the salt. If you use raw cabbage, you will need to scald it.

Equipment required to cook the cabbage roll includes now familiar Romanian earthen pot, along with typical utensils and kitchen implements like a mincer or kitchen robot, a cooker with a mandatory oven, etcetera. Preparing the ingredients for cooking involves mincing the meat with the help of the kitchen robot or the mince maker and chopping the onions and verdure as well. Now mix the minced meat, chopped onions and verdure together with the rice, tomato paste, salt and pepper. Next, roll them into cabbage leaves and they are ready to cook.

These traditional preparations tell us a lot about the predominantly pastoral lifestyle of Romania down the ages. One can almost see the farmers and the shepherds sitting down at a traditional meal, drinking home brewed liquor with jokes flying around the table, having a gala time at the end of a day of toil in the fields and the meadows of the Romanian countryside.

How I Fed My Mother: Alzheimer's Took My Mother's Appetite, So I Searched for New Foods to Bring It Back

Being a New Yorker, born and bred, I am always amazed by the abundance of food we have in this city - all kinds of food, from all kinds of places. No doubt, this is due largely to the influx of more immigrants in the last 40 years, from places as far away as India, to as close as the Caribbean. I am grateful for this abundance, this manna from so many heavens on earth.

When my mother developed Alzheimer’s disease, she lost her appetite. Maybe forgetfulness and depression caused her to lose her taste for food - even for what we would have, at one time, called “normal” food. My mother just stopped eating and the pounds dropped off. She wasn’t overweight to begin with, and was now becoming skin and bones. As her primary caregiver, it was my responsibility to make sure she received her proper nutrition. As her daughter, it was my duty to feed her as she once fed me. Even more, I had to try and tempt her taste buds. To do that, I decided to look at foods outside of her comfort zone, foods that are non-traditional, non-American.

When I was a kid, we didn't have all the exotic fare you find in the city today. We ate everything from Yankee beans to southern-fried anything. Ethnic food was a slice of Sicilian pizza for lunch or Italian spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. We learned the word “pasta” much later. Our Puerto Rican neighbors made arroz con pollo (chicken and rice) and arroz con habichuelas (rice and beans). A handsome old Romanian neighbor would make us honey cakes. "For the children, missus," he would tell my mom. I learned much later that he had a crush on her.

We ate fish on Fridays. My mother would take me to the local fish market where - sawdust underfoot - we chose our evening meal. For us, exotic food was Chinese - you either opened a can of La Choy, whose jingle claimed they made Chinese food "swing American," or you went to a restaurant. There was no take-out in my neighborhood, as I recall.

As a young adult, I discovered more foods - everything from Texas barbecue to Tex-Mex to real Mexican. I’ve eaten Caribbean cooking from several islands, exotic fare from Thailand and India, and eastern standards like Chinese and Japanese. I’ve had it “sushi-ed,” “sashimi-ed” and “tempura-ed.” Steamed, stuffed, baked, broiled, grilled and fused. And, of course, I am well familiar with the continental favorites like crepes, croques, tapas and hearty Tuscan dishes.

My mom also tried these different cuisines. She was the one who introduced me to Japanese tempura. I tried to acquaint her with sushi. We compromised on spicy Thai - the spicier the better, until her ulcers kicked in!

She gradually made her way back to her normal, comfort food. Then she forgot to eat it. Chicken, steak, fish, fruits and vegetable, rice and pasta - food that was so familiar - no longer appealed to her. She would push away a barely touched plate of food, claiming to be full. Her evening ritual of having fresh fruit while watching TV had suddenly vanished.

In my search to find a way to help her, I learned about African food on the internet (thank God for the internet!). I had once tried couscous, and eaten goat something-or-other at an African friend’s party. But I wasn’t really familiar with the cuisine. I started to research and learned that couscous is a low-fat grain loaded with B vitamins. That should be good for mom, right?

I found that African cooking incorporates many fresh, healthy ingredients including green bananas, limes, olives, groundnuts, staples like cassava and yams, millet and sorghum, and spices such as cloves, cinnamon, ginger and saffron.

Armed with this new information, I searched for recipes to try. Ones that would maybe, hopefully, awaken mom’s taste buds. I found very few cookbooks on the subject. Most were limited to Ethiopian or Moroccan cuisines, probably because we are somewhat familiar with them in the west. But West African cookery? Southern Africa? Central? There was a dearth of information on these diverse regions.

A few recipes can be found on the big websites like Epicurious.com, and I recently discovered an App called “A Cook’s Tour of Africa” that has loads of recipes from all over the continent. Like Chicken Yassa from Senegal, made with minced chili, lemon and peanut oil, or Ghana Shrimp made with ground ginger and cayenne pepper and red wine, or Bobotie - a baked beef curry casserole with a custard topping - made with almonds, raisins and lemon juice. Who could resist the sweetness of a pan of Liberian Plantain Gingerbread made with only a half cup of sugar? What could be healthier or tastier?

I tried a few of the recipes on mom, taking care not to over spice her meals - to avoid an ulcer flare up. She has taken a new interest in food. Perhaps, I imagine, she is reliving her more adventurous days!

Now, I have a world of food from one continent right at my fingertips. And, more importantly, my mother is eating again. And I’m enjoying that almost as much as I’m enjoying this “new” cuisine.

Reduce Weight By Using Yacon Syrup

Yacon syrup can be made from yacon plants in Andes Mountains. The syrup is extracted from the tuberous roots of the yacon plants that are used as a sweetening agent. The taste of the extracted syrup is similar to caramelized sugar or molasses. People from countries like Brazil, Ecuador and Peru eat yacon for health and nutritional components. Various studies have been conducted to know the benefits that these yacon root crops can bring to the person's health. In fact Yoshida et. al in 2002 studies reported that this root plant has a better anti oxidant properties compared to potato, eggplant and mushroom. The absorption of nutrients and minerals is enhanced when eating yacon roots, and this amazing benefit was discovered in another study that was conducted by the University of São Paulo, Brazil in 2007. It is believe that Yacon is one of the world's richest sources of natural FOS.

Furthermore a study done by Genta et al., reported that taking yacon syrup everyday can significantly help decrease body weight, BMI and waist perimeter when it was given to the obese pre-menopause women. How can it lead to losing weight? Is it really effective?

Prebiotics, fructooligosaccharides and insulin are the three key ingredients of the yacon syrup. This type of syrup is low in calories, as these sugars enter the colon by bypassing the digestive system. It acts like fiber that helps in regulating the bowel movements, this is very beneficial for individuals who are overweight and are struggling with constipation. The fructooligosaccharides can help change the activity of the hormones related to digestions that includes the hunger hormone ghrelin. The appetite is suppressed when the functionality of these hormones is improved. It moderates the cravings for the foods and you will feel fuller for a long period of time. The good bacteria like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium improves the immune system's vigor while improving your digestion, and they proliferate with the presence of fructooligosaccharides.

Ensuring that your body will stay fit and healthy should be included in your priorities. It is equally important that we take only the best and all natural foods to keep us healthy and alert. But The Suddenly Started Pequod

"Not forged!" and snatching Perth's levelled iron from the crotch, Ahab held it out, exclaiming—"Look ye, Nantucketer; here in this hand I hold his death! Tempered in blood, and tempered by lightning are these barbs; and I swear to temper them triply in that hot place behind the fin, where the White Whale most feels his accursed life!"
"Then God keep thee, old man—see'st thou that"—pointing to the hammock—"I bury but one of five stout men, who were alive only yesterday; but were dead ere night. Only THAT one I bury; the rest were buried before they died; you sail upon their tomb." Then turning to his crew—"Are ye ready there? place the plank then on the rail, and lift the body; so, then—Oh! Whisper it not, and I will tell; with a treacherous hook and line, as the fowl floated on the sea. At last the Captain made a postman of it; tying a lettered, leathern tally round its neck, with the ship's time and place; and then letting it escape. But I doubt not, that leathern tally, meant for man, was taken off in Heaven, when the white fowl flew to join the wing-folding, the invoking, and adoring cherubim!
Most famous in our Western annals and test link Indian traditions is that of the White Steed of the Prairies; a magnificent milk-white charger, large-eyed, small-headed, bluff-chested, and with the dignity of a thousand monarchs in his lofty, overscorning carriage. He was the elected Xerxes of vast herds of wild horses, whose pastures in those days were only fenced by the Rocky Mountains and the Alleghanies. At their flaming head he westward trooped it like that chosen star which every evening leads on the hosts of light. The flashing cascade of his mane, the curving comet of his tail, invested him with housings more resplendent than gold and silver-beaters could have furnished him. A most imperial and archangelical apparition of that unfallen, western world, which to the eyes of the old trappers and hunters revived the glories of those primeval times when Adam walked majestic as a god, bluff-browed and fearless as this mighty steed. Whether marching amid his aides and marshals in the van of countless cohorts that endlessly streamed it over the plains, like an Ohio; or whether with his circumambient subjects browsing all around at the horizon, the White Steed gallopingly reviewed them with warm nostrils reddening through his cool milkiness; in whatever aspect he presented himself, always to the bravest Indians he was the object of trembling reverence and awe. Nor can it be questioned from what stands on legendary record of this noble horse, that it was his spiritual whiteness chiefly, which so clothed him with divineness; and that this divineness had that in it which, though commanding worship, at the same time enforced a certain nameless terror.

But there are other instances where this whiteness loses all that accessory and strange glory which invests it in the White Steed and Albatross.

What is it that in the Albino man so peculiarly repels and often shocks the eye, as that sometimes he is loathed by his own kith and kin! It is that whiteness which invests him, a thing expressed by the name he bears. The Albino is as well made as other men—has no substantive deformity—and yet this mere aspect of all-pervading whiteness makes him more strangely hideous than the ugliest abortion. Why should this be so?
Nor, in quite other aspects, does Nature link again with longer anchor text in her least palpable but not the less malicious agencies, fail to enlist among her forces this crowning attribute of the terrible. From its snowy aspect, the gauntleted ghost of the Southern Seas has been denominated the White Squall. Nor, in some historic instances, has the art of human malice omitted so potent an auxiliary. How wildly it heightens the effect of that passage in Froissart, when, masked in the snowy symbol of their faction, the desperate White Hoods of Ghent murder their bailiff in the market-place!
Nor, in some things, does the common, hereditary experience of all mankind fail to bear witness to the supernaturalism of this hue. It cannot well be doubted, that the one visible quality in the aspect of the dead which most appals the gazer, is the marble pallor lingering there; as if indeed that pallor were as much like the badge of consternation in the other world, as of mortal trepidation here. And from that pallor of the dead, we borrow the expressive hue of the shroud in which we wrap them. Nor even in our superstitions do we fail to throw the same snowy mantle round our phantoms; all ghosts rising in a milk-white fog—Yea, while these terrors seize us, let us add, that even the king of terrors, when personified by the evangelist, rides on his pallid horse.
Therefore, in his other moods, symbolize whatever grand or gracious thing he will by whiteness, no man can deny that in its profoundest idealized significance it calls up a peculiar apparition to the soul.

Crowding All Sail The Pequod

But how now? in this zoned quest, does Ahab touch no land? does his crew drink air? Surely, he will stop for water. Nay. For a long time, now, the circus-running sun has raced within his fiery ring, and needs no sustenance but what's in himself. So Ahab. Mark this, too, in the whaler. While other hulls are loaded down with alien stuff, to be transferred to foreign wharves; the world-wandering whale-ship carries no cargo but herself and crew, their weapons and their wants. She has a whole lake's contents bottled in her ample hold. She is ballasted with utilities; not altogether with unusable pig-lead and kentledge. She carries years' water in her. Clear old prime Nantucket water; which, when three years afloat, the Nantucketer, in the Pacific, prefers to drink before the brackish fluid, but yesterday rafted off in casks, from the Peruvian or Indian streams. Hence it is, that, while other ships may have gone to China from New York, and back again, touching at a score of ports, the whale-ship, in all that interval, may not have sighted one grain of soil; her crew having seen no man but floating seamen like themselves. So that did you carry them the news that another flood had come; they would only answer—"Well, boys, here's the ark!"
Now, as many Sperm Whales had been captured off the western coast of Java, in the near vicinity of the Straits of Sunda; indeed, as most of the ground, roundabout, was generally recognised by the fishermen as an excellent spot for cruising; therefore, as the Pequod gained more and more upon Java Head, the look-outs were repeatedly hailed, and admonished to keep wide awake. But though the green palmy cliffs of the land soon loomed on the starboard bow, and with delighted nostrils the fresh cinnamon was snuffed in the air, yet not a single jet was descried. Almost renouncing all thought of falling in with any game hereabouts, the ship had well nigh entered the straits, when the customary cheering cry was heard from aloft, and ere long a spectacle of singular magnificence saluted us.

But here be it premised, that owing to the unwearied activity with which of late they have been hunted over all four oceans, the Sperm Whales, instead of almost invariably sailing in small detached companies, as in former times, are now frequently met with in extensive herds, sometimes embracing so great a multitude, that it would almost seem as if numerous nations of them had sworn solemn league and covenant for mutual assistance and protection. To this aggregation of the Sperm Whale into such immense caravans, may be imputed the circumstance that even in the best cruising grounds, you may now sometimes sail for weeks and months together, without being greeted by a single spout; and then be suddenly saluted by what sometimes seems thousands on thousands.
Broad on both bows, at the distance of some two or three miles, and forming a great semicircle, embracing one half of the level horizon, a continuous chain of whale-jets were up-playing and sparkling in the noon-day air. Unlike the straight perpendicular twin-jets of the Right Whale, which, dividing at top, fall over in two branches, like the cleft drooping boughs of a willow, the single forward-slanting spout of the Sperm Whale presents a thick curled bush of white mist, continually rising and falling away to leeward.
Seen from the Pequod's deck, then, as she would rise on a high hill of the sea, this host of vapoury spouts, individually curling up into the air, and beheld through a blending atmosphere of bluish haze, showed like the thousand cheerful chimneys of some dense metropolis, descried of a balmy autumnal morning, by some horseman on a height.
As marching armies approaching an unfriendly defile in the mountains, accelerate their march, all eagerness to place that perilous passage in their rear, and once more expand in comparative security upon the plain; even so did this vast fleet of whales now seem hurrying forward through the straits; gradually contracting the wings of their semicircle, and swimming on, in one solid, but still crescentic centre.
Crowding all sail the Pequod pressed after them; the harpooneers handling their weapons, and loudly cheering from the heads of their yet suspended boats. If the wind only held, little doubt had they, that chased through these Straits of Sunda, the vast host would only deploy into the Oriental seas to witness the capture of not a few of their number. And who could tell whether, in that congregated caravan, Moby Dick himself might not temporarily be swimming, like the worshipped white-elephant in the coronation procession of the Siamese! So with stun-sail piled on stun-sail, we sailed along, driving these leviathans before us; when, of a sudden, the voice of Tashtego was heard, loudly directing attention to something in our wake.
